Privacy Policy

TL;DR

CivicsPass collects no data. There is no account, no analytics, no ads and no third-party SDK. Your study progress stays on your device. The only network request the app makes to us is an anonymous download of a small public file with the current answers that change (names of officials), and that request carries no identifiers.

Who we are

CivicsPass – Citizenship Test is an iPhone and iPad app published by an independent developer ("we", "us"). It is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by USCIS or the U.S. government. Contact: homasglobal443@gmail.com.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal data. The app has no user accounts and never asks for your name, email address, immigration details or any identifier. In the App Store privacy label CivicsPass is declared as "Data Not Collected".

What the app stores on your device

Your choices. Which civics test applies to you (based on the N-400 filing-date option you pick), the 65/20 option, your state, voice speed, study-aid language and an optional interview date. These are stored only on your device.
Study progress. Which questions you marked "know it" or "still learning", mock-interview results and English-practice results, stored in the app's private database on your device.
Reminders. If you set an interview date, the app schedules two local notifications (7 days and 1 day before). No push server is involved. Permission is requested only when you set a date.
Backups. Like any app data, this may be part of your iCloud or computer backup, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

The one network request: current answers

Some civics answers change with elections and appointments (President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, Chief Justice, your governor, senators, state capital). To keep them current, the app downloads a small public JSON file from our server (https://ios.service-lab.site/civicspass/answers.json) when it opens. This is a plain, anonymous GET request of a static file: it contains no identifiers, no account, no device ID and nothing about you. Our web server keeps standard, short-lived access logs (IP address, time, requested file) for security and operations, which is how any website works; we do not use them to identify or track anyone. The app works fully offline with a bundled copy of the same file.

Permissions

CivicsPass never asks for the microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, location or photos. It uses the system speech synthesizer to read questions aloud (no speech recognition) and, only if you set an interview date, notification permission.

Purchases

CivicsPass is free with an optional one-time purchase, CivicsPass Pro (lifetime, no subscription). Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. Purchase status is checked with Apple's StoreKit on your device; the app stores only a yes/no flag locally so Pro keeps working offline. Use "Restore Purchases" on a new device.

Analytics, ads and third parties

The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising and no third-party code other than Apple's own iOS frameworks. We do not use cookies or any form of tracking, and we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined in laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, because we never have any.

Deleting your data

Use Settings › Reset all progress inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything.

Children

CivicsPass does not collect data from anyone, including children, and its content is appropriate for all ages.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above before the change takes effect.
